The debut Eclectic Veins collection combines selected minerals and recycled materials in a formulation designed without crystalline silica, subject to Cosentino's trace-impurity statement. Granite Scotland supplies, templates, fabricates and installs the collection from our Glasgow workshop.

The surface combines low-maintenance ownership with resistance to heat, stains, scratches, impact and daily wear.

Warm or cool lighting can change how the veining reads. View samples beside your cabinet door whenever possible.
20mm gives a cleaner contemporary look. 30mm feels more substantial and traditional. The right edge profile completes the design.
Islands, waterfalls, splashbacks and vein direction should be planned together before fabrication begins.
Cut-out shape, corner radii, overhangs and supports all affect both appearance and long-term performance.
Accurate templating, CNC machining and careful hand finishing are essential to the finished result.
Final cost depends on colour, slab usage, layout, cut-outs, upstands, splashbacks and installation location.
06 · Ownership
Most daily cleaning needs only warm water, a soft cloth and a little neutral detergent.
Use a damp microfibre cloth. For grease, add mild washing-up liquid, rinse and dry.
Use white vinegar or an approved diluted limescale cleaner for no more than two minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Use a neutral non-abrasive cleaner and a non-scratch blue pad, working gently before rinsing.
Remove promptly and carefully, then use a suitable silicone remover according to its instructions.
Apply alcohol- or acid-based products to kitchen roll first rather than directly onto the surface.
07 · Protection
Eligible ĒCLOS installations can receive Cosentino's 25-year manufacturer warranty when the current registration requirements are met.
Keep your Granite Scotland invoice and register the product with Cosentino within six months. Under the published policy supplied to us, surfaces not registered within that period may instead receive a three-year warranty, provided proof of purchase is available.
The warranty is provided by Cosentino and remains subject to its current certificate, exclusions and claims process.
08 · Questions answered
No. Cosentino presents ĒCLOS as an inlayered mineral surface, separate from conventional engineered quartz.
Cosentino states resistance up to 220°C within its guidance. Granite Scotland still recommends trivets because cookware temperatures and contact conditions vary.
No routine periodic sealing is required.
No. ĒCLOS is specified for indoor applications.

It is not simply a new quartz colour range. Cosentino has introduced ĒCLOS as a distinct surface category, developed around a different material composition and its proprietary INLAYR® design technology.
The debut Eclectic Veins collection combines selected minerals with recycled material and is designed without crystalline silica, although trace impurities below 1% may remain.

A curated family of mineral surfaces inspired by geology, light and natural movement. From quiet cream backgrounds to dramatic dark compositions, every colour has been designed with its own distinct architectural character.
01 · Wondr · Glossy finish
Wondr is the collection’s most expressive statement: layered grey, blue and mineral tones moving across a pale ground. It is designed for large islands, open-plan kitchens and projects where the worktop is intended to become the room’s visual centre.
A deep architectural surface with restrained mineral movement.
Phantome is intended for kitchens that favour contrast, shadow and strong geometry. Its dark body works particularly well on islands, contemporary cabinetry and minimal schemes where the surface can read as a single sculptural plane.
Warm, composed and designed for timeless interiors.
Ivora combines a light cream background with delicate grey and beige movement. It offers warmth without becoming yellow and pattern without dominating the kitchen, making it one of the most adaptable colours in the collection.
A warm geological surface with an understated luxury.
Landr brings earthier mineral tones into the collection. It suits kitchens where the objective is calm rather than contrast and works especially well with textured woods, muted greens, clay colours and softly layered interiors.
Designed for kitchens that need a stronger visual rhythm.
Tajnar uses broad movement and tonal contrast to create presence across large worktop runs and islands. Careful slab positioning is important, particularly where veins need to continue through mitred ends or adjoining pieces.

Legnd takes the visual authority of traditional natural stone and gives it a cleaner contemporary structure. It can support both classical shaker kitchens and modern handleless designs without feeling tied to either style.

Begin with Ivora, Landr or Sandr. Their warmer undertones sit naturally beside timber, cashmere, taupe and soft green cabinetry.
Consider Wondr, Tajnar or Phantome, especially on large islands where the full movement of the slab can be appreciated.
Lumer and Veilr provide a lighter overall impression while retaining enough design detail to avoid looking flat.

04 · Specification and proportion
Worktop thickness changes more than a measurement. It changes the shadow line, visual weight and architectural character of the entire kitchen.
Proportion before specification
A slimmer edge can make cabinetry feel lighter and more architectural. A deeper edge creates greater visual weight and a more substantial traditional presence. Neither is universally better; the right choice is the one that supports the design around it.
20mm worktops
The cleaner choice for modern kitchen architecture.
A 20mm worktop creates a finer horizontal line across the kitchen. It works especially well with handleless cabinetry, slab doors, minimalist islands and layouts where the surface should appear light rather than heavy.
30mm worktops
A stronger edge line with greater visual presence.
A 30mm worktop creates a deeper edge and a more grounded appearance. It is particularly at home in shaker kitchens, farmhouse-inspired interiors and schemes where the worktop is intended to feel solid, established and visually substantial.
Where thickness matters most
Thickness becomes most noticeable where the worktop is isolated, viewed from the side or carried into another architectural element. These are the areas where proportion should be considered before the kitchen is templated.
An island exposes the edge more than a perimeter run, so thickness has a stronger influence on the room.
The worktop becomes an architectural surface, making thickness and vein alignment part of the overall design.
A slim edge can make an overhang appear lighter, while a deeper edge creates a more solid furniture-like effect.
Upstand thickness and height should feel proportionate to the worktop and the scale of the cabinetry.
Using the same material vertically creates continuity and allows pattern movement to extend beyond the worktop.
Matching cills can complete the room, but their thickness should not overpower the window opening.

Granite Scotland recommends
We generally recommend 20mm for modern kitchens because it gives the worktop a cleaner and sleeker appearance. For a traditional shaker kitchen, or where the customer wants greater visual weight, 30mm can be the more appropriate choice.
The decision should be made beside the actual cabinet door wherever possible. A sample viewed on its own cannot show how the edge proportion will relate to the doors, handles, island size or surrounding architecture.
Support requirements, overhangs and the design of the cabinetry are considered separately during planning and templating. Thickness should never be used as a substitute for correct structural support.
05 · Craft and execution
A premium surface is only the beginning. The finished result depends on measuring, slab planning, fabrication and installation being treated as one continuous process.

Material meets workmanship
The colour chosen in the showroom has to be translated into real worktop pieces, sink cut-outs, joints, upstands and islands. Every decision made before cutting influences what the customer eventually sees in the kitchen.
The Granite Scotland process
We approach templating, fabrication and fitting as a linked workflow. The aim is not simply to make individual pieces fit, but to ensure that the completed worktop feels visually coherent across the entire room.
We review the plan, appliance positions, sink specification, overhangs, upstands, splashbacks and any features that could affect the final layout.
Potential joint positions and large-piece handling requirements are considered before the template visit wherever possible.
Cabinet runs, walls and appliance openings are rarely perfectly square. Templating records the actual kitchen rather than relying solely on the original drawing.
The owner of Granite Scotland attends templates and installations, helping maintain continuity between the survey and the finished work.
For strongly veined colours, the location and direction of each piece can be as important as its dimensions. Islands, waterfall ends and long worktop runs need particular attention.
Slab planning is used to balance visual impact, available material and practical fabrication constraints.
The worktop pieces are cut and prepared in our Glasgow workshop. Sink cut-outs, hob openings, tap holes, drainer details and polished edges are produced to the agreed specification.
Fabrication accuracy matters most around visible details, transitions and areas where multiple pieces meet.
Finished pieces are checked before leaving the workshop. Dimensions, polished details and the agreed specification are reviewed before transport to the property.
Large or complex pieces also require careful planning for access, lifting and safe movement through the building.
The worktops are positioned, levelled and joined on site. Final alignment is influenced by the cabinets beneath, wall conditions and the practical tolerances of the room.
The objective is a secure installation with controlled joints, balanced overhangs and a consistent visual line through the kitchen.
Slab planning
Highly expressive colours should not be treated like plain material. A small change in cutting position can alter the balance of an island, movement across a joint or the relationship between horizontal and vertical pieces.

Inside the workshop
Cut-outs must suit the exact appliance specification while preserving suitable material around corners, rails and surrounding features.
Joint positions, polished sink openings, tap holes, upstand junctions and exposed ends often determine whether the finished work feels considered.
Large worktop pieces can be extremely heavy. Safe handling, route planning and adequate access are part of the fabrication decision, not an afterthought.
What the customer ultimately sees
Customers do not see workshop drawings or production decisions. They see the lines, relationships and transitions those decisions create in the room.
Joints should be planned around slab size, access, support and the visual movement of the colour.
Balanced overhangs help the worktop follow the cabinetry and maintain a controlled line around the kitchen.
Sinks, hobs and tap holes should feel integrated into the worktop rather than added after the design.
Upstands, splashbacks and waterfall ends should relate clearly to the principal horizontal surfaces.

Installation day
Even an accurately fabricated worktop must be installed into a real building. Walls can vary, cabinets can settle and access can affect how pieces are divided and positioned.
Installation is where the measured template, fabricated pieces and actual kitchen conditions are reconciled. This is why continuity between templating and fitting matters.

A worktop never exists in isolation. Cabinetry, flooring, hardware, lighting and surrounding finishes all influence how the final surface is perceived.
The whole room matters
The most successful kitchens are not created by selecting every finish separately. They are built by understanding how colour temperature, material texture and visual weight work together across the room.
Cabinet colour pairings
These combinations are practical starting points rather than fixed rules. Always compare physical samples together under the lighting conditions of the finished kitchen.
Works best when surrounding finishes allow the movement in the surface to remain the principal feature.
Its cream base suits muted cabinetry, warm woods and tonal interiors with a relaxed, understated character.
Best used deliberately, either as a tonal dark scheme or as a strong contrast against restrained cabinetry.

Final chapter · See the material properly
Photography can introduce a colour. It cannot fully communicate its scale, depth, surface character or relationship with the rest of your kitchen.
More than a photograph
Natural daylight affects warmth. Artificial light changes contrast. Cabinet doors influence undertones. Flooring, paint and metal finishes all alter how the surface is perceived. The only reliable way to understand the full composition is to compare the materials together.
Why viewing matters
A sample is useful, but it represents only a small part of a much larger surface. Veining may become more pronounced across an island, softer across a long run or more directional when used vertically on a waterfall end or splashback.
Lighting also matters. A pale warm surface can feel creamy in south-facing daylight and quieter under cooler LEDs. Darker colours may reveal more texture and contrast when viewed from different angles.
For that reason, we recommend bringing the other materials from your kitchen into the showroom wherever possible. A cabinet door, flooring sample or paint board can immediately reveal whether a combination feels balanced.
